NEW RADIO SHOW: Conversations about the Human Spirit & Well Being

Oh my days, my new Radio Series just launched at Oystermouth Radio and will air every Sunday at 7.00pm for the next 6 weeks. I am so thrilled.

I feel so blessed to have such inspirational guests who will be joining me, women who have moved me by their dedication to help others through their own practice. It feels important to create a platform for them to share their story because it may help others listening to think of new ways of lifting their own spirit. Above all things, this is what makes the long hours of filming and editing worthwhile.

I have recorded the entire series on my phone and a tiny hand held tascam recorder. Despite my hearing impairments, I have managed to edit the radio shows and podcasts by myself, allowing space for the women to simply 'be' and truly shine. It is my deepest desire that everyone who listens, is able to take something from it for themselves.

Dates for your diary ... every Sunday at 7pm from 24th November onwards - full details at www.cherylbeer.com including links to Oystermouth Radio & Welsh Connections.

Week 1: We launch with My Story & Introduce the series.

Week 2: my special guest is Caroline Lane talking about how she turned her crafting into a workshops that help others

Week 3 is Shamanic Healer Willow Jordan about her work at Driftwood Hollow Therapies

Week 4 is Kiera L Jones, Soul Midwife and Nurse at Skanda Vale Hospice

Week 5 is Eleanor Shaw giving us a personal insight into how Storytelling helped her to heal and how she went on to set up the Award Winning People Speak Up

Week 6 is Ger Kennedy, renowned Artist from Ireland, telling the story of her artwork, which she kindly gave me permission to use as my album cover artwork.

Fallen on Deaf Ears

You know me, I always have a few projects on the go and one of the back burners that has been coming along nicely is my campaign to keep my song history alive, even though I am now deaf and can't perform due to tinnitus and hyperacusis.

I put out a call on facebook and started a Group Page called PLEASE HELP ME KEEP MY MUSIC LIVE and had a wonderful response from musicians.

And then the lovely Michael Kennedy from Welsh Connections and Radio Tircoed contacted me and offered to organise an album of my tracks performed by other people as a fundraiser for my project Sound Memories Dementia Friendly Radio Station ... he spoke with Death Monkey Records in Swansea and they are releasing the album. How amazing is that. Michael is organising it all so get in touch with him if you're interested. They are organising a live night with recording from the desk for those who do not have the ability to record themselves.

Already we have had  the most wonderful track from Karl Schramm a musician in Germany who has been in his studio recording a version of my song flirting with Cliche. He's going to manage the press releases in Germany. Here's a little video with the original song from my Snow Tracks album which I made with my little sister in my kitchen when I first wrote it in 2011 ...

I can't wait to play you Karl's version. I think I like it even better than my own! LOL. It's so wonderful to hear other people's interpretation of my work.

The working title for the album is 'Fallen on Deaf Ears' and we're going to use a black and white picture for the cover taken by Rowenna Russell of me preforming on the main stage at Women in Tune Festival. It is likely my favourite live shot.

Roweena also took the shot at the top of the page at the same festival. She really is a gifted photographer, I love watching her journey through pictures.

It feels very special indeed that my songs are still going to be out there doing their thing even though I can't be.

Always with love and an open heart, dear ones.

Welsh Connection Dragon Tree Review

Just slipping in this quick blog to show you a review by Michael Kennedy from The Welsh Connections Show at Radio Oystermouth ...

What would you do with a grant from the Arts Council For Wales ?

Well, Cheryl Beer, that wonderfully talented singer-songwriter from West Wales decided to write and produce her own new Welsh folk tale : The Dragon Tree. I was fortunate enough
to be at the unveiling of this fantastic fusion of music, story and dance when Cheryl launched it at the National Botanic Garden Of Wales on Saturday January 26th 2013.

I won't say too much about the tales themselves as you all have a second opportuntiy to experience this at St David's Cathederal from the 13th-16th February, and then at St Cadoc's Church, Trevethin on 28th February.

Cheryl is supported by Rachel Hargrave, Amanda Painting, Jeff Beer and The Swansea Ukulele Boys with live music, but also featured are Sam Collins with Bigyn Primary School, Johnstown Primary School, street dancer - Martin Kurina and the wonderful Gofal Celf Contemporary Dancers.

Cheryl has made The Dragon Tree into a film and book.

I urge all of you to make the effort to see, watch, experience this masterpiece - it really is THE EVENT for Wales of 2013 !
Our Welsh heritage is something to be proud of and Cheryl has moved the folk tales of Wales in the next century
